I completed the course for a concealed carry permit and I need some help deciding on a gun. I am stuck between an M&P Shield 9mm, Glock 26, or a Springfield XDM sub compact .45? Help!

I don't really know all that much about pistols as I am just getting into the game, but I loved the way the shield felt when I held it. I will be buying one on the 2nd amendment weekend in 2 weeks.

why did you mention 2 9's and a 45?

bc I do not feel .380s can get the job done. My instructor said the same thing.

I dont like either of those three so I'm not gonna be much help. I have not held the shield but the other two have horrible ergonomics for my taste. I would pick he XDMc if I had to just because its .45

he's wrong, it wouldnt be my first choice but saying it won't get the job done is dumb

Out of the 3 you listed, I personally like this one the best.
All are nice guns

lol. Yeah I like the .45 alot. I have held it many times and fits my hands well. The only thing that bothers me is the grip safety. Its like the one on 1911's. If im in a situation where I need to use it, I may not grip it right on the safety and it may not fire. Thats my only concern, you know?

i've done countless and i mean countless training measures drawing from holster, waist band, you name it with many 1911's and have never had a failure to fire due to a grip safety issue.

thats really not something you need to worry about, it gets hyped a lot as a problem for no reason

Trust King, he knows what he's talking about

Coming from a glock fan too
Cept I'd rather an SP-101 for the extra weight

I have several little guns and this is by far my favorite.

How painful is it to shoot?

I said I liked to carry it, not shoot it
It isn't terrible, but I didn't buy it to shoot. (more than a couple times center mass)

How bad is it compared to say a sub compact 9mm?
Can you hit anything with it?
