That thing sucks. Neighbor had one, brought it in on June 23rd and they still haven't fixed it.
He told them to keep it.

anytime you see a small engine with a blue cover on it stay away. Cheep Chinese knock off engines. Plus at $999,it's really not to good of a deal. Basically Harbor Freight generator

You don't even think the price was good, where would you point me to then?

you need 10kw's?
maybe maybe not, i don't know. I would want a generator that could run a good size camper with no prob. I figured the price difference between a 7k and a 10kish wasn't always too much. How far can a 6500 take me?

I really like the Generac portables. As good as the Honda's in my book.
7500 watts isn't as important as how many amps is available. You would need about a 20kw unit to power a small home including central A/C.
If no need to run a central A/C or an electric hot water heater anything between 5.5kw - 10 kw will run about anything you really need. Generac portables
BTW-The generator you listed isn't really a 10000 watt generator. More like a 7500 watt with 10000 watt surge, much like the GP7500E Generac

Had a buddy find a briggs and stratton 7500 in gonzales for a grand.

The Generac has pressurized lubrication system with screw on oil filter. Go find that shite in a Briggs.

haha just talked to him said he backed out on the briggs

Rule of thumb.
Stay away from Any generator powered by
1.Cheep,blue knockoff Chinese engines
2. Briggs and Stratton engined
3. Techumseh engines

that's a good-en
Does this more expensive one with less watts have anything that would really benefit me?
Posted on 8/27/12 at 2:43 pm to Chad504boy
no,it's basically just built in a heavier duty frame for jobsite work.Look,I'm not saying the Generac is the best generators out there and definitely not the quietest.
If you need quiet then you can go get a Honda or Yamaha that will perform great.

I was more than happy with the reviews on this at homedepot dot com.
Anything with a honda attached to the name, you pay serious bucks for. Quiet isn't of the biggest concerns although its advantageous, but frick when all the neighborhood mack daddy generators are running, they loud as frick too.

I'm seriously looking at getting me a diesel generator. You never have carb problems like you do with gas and the fuel will keep for much longer before going bad. I think diesel engines are quieter too.

not a bad idea... i can rack up on the cans of fuel and i can always burn in my truck if they go unused a hurricane season.
