Looking to purchase some stock...
easy to use format?
easy to get into?
low commissions?
(anything else I need to be wary of?)
Suggestions?

I use TDAmeritrade - never had a problem.

I use Schwab out of convenience of maintaining multiple accounts including checking in one dashboard. If you want cheap fees go Scottrade or Sharebuilder.

This for me as well. I find their checking account to be advantageous because its free, interest, and ATM fee reimbursements.

I use TDAmeritrade and have had no problems.
BUT, if I were just starting out, I would visit the Scottrade store in the outdoor mall in Ridgeland and learn what they had to offer.
