Guy has ALS, and HBO tries to get him to say something controversial to stir shite up. Classy.

Not really news.
He said he was never aware of a bounty program, but he simply feels that the defensive players should have been more alarmed at GW's words.
Probably true; but after all those years, I'm sure they were used to his use of insane hyperbole and fire...and they knew not to take certain things literally.

Honestly, he has a point. Now, they (defensive players) may have heard stuff like this all their life, but remember, as a DB, Gleason has been in many defensive meetings. My guess is he hasn't heard anything of this nature before. I can't imagine what these guys hear day in and day out. But this seemed extreme.

I don't think anyone in the Saints organization has defended GW's language thus far.
Just his meaning.
Just his meaning.

Steve needs to stop allowing himself to be manipulated. Sean Pamphilon happened - okay, that sucked. This is one too many.

Steve is allowed to question whatever he wants, he's earned it.

I think that Steve's statement that it's disturbing that no one was shocked by Williams' words is about how savage football culture is and has been for quite some time.
That's something that Goodell and others are afraid to admit.

Oddly double posted.

It was hyperbole. Nobody took it literally except for that fig Pamphilon, the dumbass media, and (sadly) Gleason.

Guy has a right to his own opinion.
If I were him, considering the graces he is in the the New Orleans Saints organization and the legacy he has with the fans, I would just keep my mouth shut and try not to tarnish my rep. Buts thats just my opionion.

Exactly. This thread would be 3 pages by now if it were anybody else.
We are mad at Pamphillon (who has no loyalties to the Saints, nor should he). I think Steve would have to do a lot to hurt his good name, but he still needs to drop it.

Whoa big fella! He has a terrible dreadful disease and my prayers and thoughts are with him always! He is a hero to us all....
Every person has the right in America to question anything they would like, but saying he earned it because he is sick is NOT right.
If he weren't ill, you would be blasting his arse left and right for actions that hurt the Saints.
Damn these media outlets that use him and his illness to get something out of him that causes attention....I wonder who is behind it all...hmmmmm
If you keep HBO after all this, you are not a Saints fan. Hit em where it hurts boys

Steve hasn't hurt the Saints.

Not directly or intentionally. At least not until this interview. What is the point of this interview, anyway? It's old news - why is Steve putting this back in the news cycle?
I'm hoping he gave this interview awhile back and HBO has just been holding it, because it would make NO SENSE for Steve to rehash this shite again.

God i hope this is sarcasm.
For whoever said hyperbole: he did have some statements outside the realm of coaching accepted hyperbole. Like the ACL thing. But what is a player supposed to do? Tell the coach mid speech that isn't appropriate? The fact that no one targeted an ACL ever showed not that the saints players knew it was hyperbole, but knew that some things are nut acceptable on the field and choose not to pursue those things.
Does anyone else think this while situation would have been different if we hadn't fired GW before all the news broke?

They made it act like SG said there indeed was a bounty.

he has a point. Regardless of who he is, that is crossing the line. I think most people(players) would agree when they step out of the moment and see what was being said.
Regardless, the man is dying. IM sure he was asked a question. No reason to hold back what he really thinks. His legacy is etched in stone already, no matter what he says/does from here on out.
