I've lived in foreign cultures and lived in the very same houses as the people who supported me. Trust me, it takes years to get to Arya's supposedly level of proficiency. I've lived in the middle of the god damn Mogolian plains doing chores, and it was still difficult for me to understand them, especially when it came to slang. I know about living under foreign tongues, and it would take Arya much longer than 6 months to get to her supposed level. Unless the Braavosi tongue is incredibly similar to the Westerosi tongue, I don't buy it. It would have benefited from Arya spending years on her apprenticeships.

No offense, but it's Arya. She's shown a pretty high level thus far of adapting.

She and Bran have been set up the entire series to be special and different. I get what you are saying, this is a FANTASY series. Bringing real expectations to dragons and people who can change their faces at a whim is just being too picky. Let's just let this all play out.

You were in China, which would be difficult as hell to learn. And you were much older than Arya.

Young kids can pick up languages much easier than adults, and depending on the language it doesn't take anywhere close to the time you are talking about to learn a language. I had a Spanish teacher in college who mainly became fluent by living in Spain for a 6 months after having classes in college.

A year would obviously be pushing it a bit, but a teenager could easily learn a latin based language in under two years if completely immersed in it like Arya is.
