When the reference the stone dragons at dragonstone, are there actual stone statues of dragons somewhere in/under the castle or are we just guessing that they are somewhere beneath it?

Some think that the carved dragons on its ramparts are actually petrified dragons because they are so lifelike. Davos alludes to this.
Others think that since Egg claimed to have a dragon egg and so did his brother, some claim that the eggs of the Targaryen house are still located somewhere on the island.
