So maybe I missed something, but the whole R+L=J....why is that truly important? I mean, maybe GRRM will get a laugh from trolling us, but what integral part of the storyline does that play (assuming Dany survives)? Jon would just go from "Jon Snow" to "Jon Sand." He's still a bastard born out of wedlock. Daenerys still is next in line to the throne, as well as Aegon (if he is actually Rhaegar's child). Jon doesn't really fit into the line anywhere.
Or am I missing something very obvious here? I just don't see any purpose for it other than a cool little twist that doesn't really mean much in the end. Hell, we already know that he doesn't have the blood of the dragon (being he burned his hand very bad). I guess the only integral part that R+L=J could play is if Jon ends up being Lightbringer.

There's speculation that R+L married each other. The Targs practiced polygamy, plus the fact that the Kingsguard were at the ToJ instead of with Viserys or Rhaegar.

quote:Jon Snow to Jon Targaryen or Jon Waters (maybe). Sand is the name given to Dornish bastards.
Jon would just go from "Jon Snow" to "Jon Sand."

I think he would be Waters being that Rhaegar lives in King's Landing. Not sure on this.

A theory, that I happen to stand by, is that Rhaegar married Lyanna in order to fulfill the prophesy of the dragon with three heads. He knew Elia couldn't have any more children and knew he had to have three. So if he did marry Lyanna, Targaryen's did shite like this often in the old days, Jon would be next in line. True born son of Rhaegar.

Dany burned her hand at the end of adwd when she pulled out the spear in Drogon's back.
