Jason Whitlock: Kobe has lived off NBA food stamps his entire career
All he is saying is that unlike with every title Jordan or magic won, for most of kobes titles he was not the most dominate player on the court.
Magic played with Kareem, James Worthy, Michael Cooper, Byron Scott, Kurt Rambis, Greene, and others. He had a lot of help.

this article is meaningless. the Lakers still aren't going to beat the Thunder, Spurs, or Heat in a 7 game series.

Kobe still had to be the best player of his era to win 5 titles though
I agree. He is clearly an all-time great.
I really do not define by eras, but the "torch" being passed from one best player to another.
Magic -> Jordan -> Shaq -> Kobe -> Lebron
Of course, you could make cases for guys like Duncan, maybe a quick spot in there for Paul in 2008, Wade in 2006, etc. I just follow this general progression for the best player; it is not an exact science, but good enough for me.

Guess who's my new favorite NBA writer?

No shite, Magic was a spoiled little Kardashian bitch by the logic of the article. But that's not the point of the article as I stated earlier, it's a pure hate hit piece.
I'm not even a Kobe fan either.

Couldn't we just as easily say Shaqs titles are tainted since he won with Kobe
Oh I'm sorry, do you not remember Shaq averaging in the mid 30s for those 3 titles and Kobe averaging in the low-mid 20s?

He right, Kobe has had a lot of help! The year they lost to Detroit when Malone and Payton were there as Whitlock stated, Kobe was no where to be found. Shaq was the only one taking it to Detroit!

You are not saying magic is better than Jordan are you?

I would hope not. BUT In ALL fairness.. MAGIC is #2.

I'm sorry, but can anyone here tell me who the MVP for Kobe's 3 finals were?
Oh ok.. And who will likely be the MVP if they win next year? oh... ok..
And who was the mvp for all of MJ's finals?
got it.

He is way up there but something tells me the idiot didn't know how to make greater than and less than signs and was saying the Shaq, Kobe, and Lebron are all better than Jordan and magic.

I already have said Jordan was the best. Hell I posted this picture earlier in the thread.

The issue isn't Kobe. The issue is why the other teams seem to feel obligated to step up and help the Lakers stay relevant.
It's like they say, "Oh wait, the Lakers are slipping a bit - how can we get them another marquee guy?"

No, it is a progression of the best active player in the NBA.
Magic was the best player, then Jordan surpassed him, then Jordan retired/Wizards when Shaq took over, Kobe passed Shaq due to injuries/age/partying, and Lebron now is the best current player in the NBA.

When was Kobe the best player?
It went from Jordan to Shaq to Duncan to Lebron

No matter what happens, Kobe should not get credit for a sixth superstar championship ring if the Lakers win it all. This should count as a Robert Horry-like supporting player championship ring.
That's a ridiculous statement.
I know Kobe is not the player he use to be, but barring injury Kobe is going to contribute more to this team than Horry every did for any of his titles.
Take out Kobe and sub in someone like Marcus Thornton(not a LSU bias, guy was top 10 in PER for SGs) is everyone still saying the title is 3 way race between OKC, Heat and Lakers?
