I was looking at that extreme4. I know someone on here said something about how they liked them.
I had the Extreme6.
Loved the board, really don't know why I sold it. Just like trying out different things. On my 6th MOBO of the year. lol

Let me know how you like the bios and overclocking utility.3
The ASRock BIOS are probably the 2nd best I have used besides the new and I mean NEW MSI bios. The old MSI BIOS was terrible IMO.
For the overclocking a 3570K, turn off everything but Turbo Voltage from AUTO to +0.04. A stable modest OC would be 4.1-4.3. I would set your multiplier to 43 and core offset to +1.25

What is your Steam ID?
Trace-z

Edit: What guide did you use when you overclocked?
sorry bro I am not very good at overclocking. I used the asus auto overclocking utility which put me right at 4.8

yeah TBH I think the 4.8 was a little much. My temps were fine and it was stable, but I will definitely dial it down some.
Broke a couple pins on the asus and now have a 200 dollar paperweight. ordering the extreme4 now.

Mines Bluebarracuda. I put in trace-z and there were way too many people that came up when I searched so I didn't know who to pick.

hows the extreme4? should I order it? seriously about to click purchase
Posted on 9/18/12 at 11:41 am to puffulufogous
You just missed out on some major sales on it. They had it priced at $94.99, then to $114.99, then to its normal price now but you received 8gb of 1600 RAM. Now it has nothing

story of my life man. At this point I just want this thing working again. I will eat the 30 dollars to get my 1800 dollar machine working again.

Just like my Extreme6 except a few less features, maybe a few less phases for CPU. Not certain but it is a damn good MOBO.

got the extreme4 installed and boot went well. Took a while to find the right driver for the wireless card I bought but got that running.
Since mobo swap windows has been kind of strange. For instance when I try to install drivers from a disk, that program will die. When I shut down windows will get stuck at the "shutting down" screen and I will have to physically reset. Guessing it has something to do with program files/drivers conflicting.
Tried to do a repair install of windows 7 which it couldn't complete just like when I run a driver install. None of this was happening before the switch of motherboards. Plan is to move program files for games to my HDD, put hard to find drivers on a flash drive, and pretty much reformat my SSD. Then restart the computer and completely reinstall windows, reinstall only asrock drivers/utilities, and hopefully all will be good again.
sound about right?

Puff:
That is exactly what I would do. If you have an extra PC I would even reformat my Windows/Boot drive again then do a fresh windows install.
First, I would get ALL the latest drivers from ASRock and put them on a jump drive. Second, install Windows. Third, install the new drivers from the jump drive. I never touch the CD drivers that come with boards.
The Extreme4 might need a firmware update also, would check into that. I will have time to help you tonight if you still are having trouble. Send me your Skype/Vent info through Steam so I can hit you up.

formatted both my drives and reinstalled windows. looks like that fixed it. Got all the important drivers and utilites on my flash beforehand and that saved a ton of time. Running smoothly now. Now i just have to redownload all my steam games

Steam isn't bad, just download as you play them.

Hey, at least you're up and running!
My custom sleeving (white and blue) should be coming in on Tuesday and my build should be just about complete
Now I'm trying to find another blackwidow ultimate since mine doesn't match

All of my sleeving came in today... But I forgot to order a tool to get the pins out of the connectors now I have to wait a couple days for it to come in...
Posted on 9/25/12 at 11:03 pm to bluebarracuda
did it come in yet? itching to see how it comes out and whether it is worth doing
Posted on 9/25/12 at 11:05 pm to puffulufogous
I got all the sleeving but the tool isn't in yet... Probably won't come in until this weekend.

sweet. I ended up salvaging an old set of surround sound desktop speakers/sub combo. It isn't fancy or sleek, but it sounds better than the 3mm speakers built into my monitor and it was free.
