Trying to save money, getting married out of state but doing a local reception for friends/family in La. Need a place that has a low cost of rental and we can do outside catering and/or bring own alcohol. Location must be indoors as its likely to be In Summer. Any thoughts help.

How many people and are you just looking for a hall or a place that has a caterer included?

My goal would be to keep it small, expecting 75 to attend... Just a hall is fine.
As for a friends house, that's a little more casual than I'd like... May go that route, but I was hoping to go slightly more formal than that.

If a friend had a house large enough with appropriate space, you could afford to have no issues with the alcohol and spend a little more on the food for the event.
Outside of that, Ashley Manor is a beautiful place, Boudreauxs, and there is another reception hall right off of Old Hammond Highway past Sherwood that is escaping me. A restaurant may be able to accomodate it and nicer places are a bit slower in the summer. You wouldnt have a room rental fee but alcohol wouldnt be allowed to be brought in probably. However, you might be able to get a decent deal on that size of a group.

wherever you have the reception, get some food that makes a turd...not just greasy finger foods.

The LSU Faculty Club on Highland near the Union? I think they do their own catering/alcohol though.

Hmmm a place that allows outside caterers, that's tough.
The place another poster was trying to think of is The Lakehouse (on Old Hammond near Sherwood). Downfall of that place is the surrounding area.
The Gatehouse is super cute, but I don't know any of the back story there besides they are owned by the Stage 1 people.

They do. But, it was still an option. Really accepting all ideas at this point til we weed them out.

Pretty much all the places that have been listed won't allow outside food...other than the Faculty Club, UCT Hall and FOP hall.
The FOP hall is nice and pretty large. The guy that runs it does catering but you can bring your own food in as well. If you are interested in it email me lsugrldej8@gmail.com. I can give you the contact info. I had my reception there and they went above and beyond.

These have all been very helpful, we're going to look into several of these. Any thougts on any hotels that would be reasonable? Or, should we skip looking at hotels?
