I stopped in for a sausage and peppers poboy and a herd of democrats 12+ had seated themselves. Their drink order was ice water. Poor Mr Omar.

My children do not drink cokes so if I go to eat with them it is usually three waters and my unsweet tea or diet coke.

ETA: I would charge $0.50 for water if I owned a restaurant. Someone has to serve it and someone has to clean it and someone has to restock the empty glass. The price should not be zero.

Headslash is saying a group if black people went into a local pizza joint and ordered waters, and probably won't tip well.

I have no issue with this. We choose snobby bottled waters when we have the option. (My favorite is Fiji)

If I were a restauraunt owner, charging for water is not a trend I would start. Won't add much to the bottom line, and you could lose paying customers.
Not every restaurant can be picky.

Mr. Omar is a nice guy. He gave me a price break when I paid cash. The food was excellent. A chicken parm sandwich and a meatball sub with a salad. It fed my family of 4 easily.

Last time I went, i ordered two slices and since there was only one left, he just gave it to me.

It was hard to put the third one down since I wasn't that hungry, but I couldn't turn down his offer, I was scared to.

Do you have to show voter registration to order pizzas now?

I tipped him one time and he asked me why I did that. He said "you paid me to make the pizza, that's my job, why tip?"

I agree with this.

Although I would pay for ice water if it was the trend.

I don't get water at a restaurant because I'm cheap. I get water because:

-carbonated drinks are crap for me
-sweet tea, as delectable as it is, is loaded with calories I don't need
-unsweet tea is a a communist plot

Pretty much the same here...I always get water...cheap I'm not.
