He wasn't an extremely productive HS player.

RS freshman year-Recorded 12 tackles, 2.0 tackles for losses and one sack against Vanderbilt, Louisiana-Lafayette and Mississippi State.
I will admint his sophomore stats suprised me
quote:

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2010)
Played in 12 games, starting twice - vs. Florida and McNeese State ... Saw most of his action at left defensive end ... Finished year with 21 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup ... Had four tackles, including one tackle for a 1-yard loss in win over Florida ... Added a tackle for a loss in season-opening win over North Carolina ... Tied a career-best with five tackles in win over Tennessee ... Closed regular season with three tackles vs. Arkansas

I guess I just did not recall him having that productive of a 3rd year, thus I will retract my statement that he was a COMPLETE BUST, but to say he wasn't a highly recruited player or a "risk" even post injury isn't legit. IMO, he hasn't come close to living up to expectation. Not knocking the guy, I guess i just expected a lot more than most of you.

Knew he was a scouting service darling, but sometimes you have to get off the scouting service sites to know what's going on. And I didn't realize those numbers were being thrown out there. Don't think they are legit.

I have friends from out there who were questioning his ranking the whole time. Read this thread to get an idea of what they were thinking:

Big difference between what Rivals and Scout were saying and what people who followed Garland were saying. They looked at him as an "upside" player who was not extremely productive and did not dominate in high school. He would disappear in games against good 5A teams. You see it all in there.

I suspect he camped well though.
