First time visiting. The boudin balls, etouffee-topped blackened catfish and the shrimp-and-grits were all excellent. Nothing was bland, nor was it over-seasoned. Perfectly cooked, perfect mix of flavors.
Only quibble is with portion for the price. Not a ton of food. Could have ordered a la carte sides but that would have pushed the prices to the Flemings' range, and it's not quite at that level.
All in all, it's a pretty damn strong place. I'll be back for their fried chicken and shrimp creole lunch specials, for sure.

Has been the main issue with many including myself since their opening. If you are not a 150lb mini-mealer, you better split some extra apps or additional entree.

At second glance, the sides are four bucks apiece and would have pushed the catfish to $21 and the shrimp-and-grits to $25.
A little pricy, but not as pricy as I walked away thinking. Now, since I didn't get a side, I'm not sure on the portion I would have gotten.

I like Beausoleil, have a nice menu. But, after a few trips, have decided to save my fish with string bean jonesing to Parrains(especially Friday's Mustard and Tabasco Catfish)..
And overall am glad that Silver Spoon transformed into this new creation, a nice add for BR.

Definitely. I really like the place for brunch on Sundays. Cool atmosphere but you won't walk away full

Flemings is apparently the Johnny's pizza of Baton Rouge.

Don't take that as an endorsement of Flemings. I thought of it as the nearest upscale place, literally just around the corner for Beausoleil.
I'm OK with Flemings, but not my favorite upscale place, or even upscale chain (I think I prefer Ruth's Chris, but I don't go to either enough to say it definitively).
My point is Beausoleil isn't quite in the fine dining class. Anyplace that brings complimentary pork skins to the table isn't quite that

Id have a hard time paying $21 for catfish. Ate once. Food was pretty good. Waitress made comments so out of line it made us leave early. For BR its not bad.

I found the same thing. I was still hungry after

Wondering what the waitress might have said that was so offensive.

I was on a double date and somehow the waitress took me being nice as flirting. She let out a loud "wow I can't believe you're hitting on me in front of your gf" and it just got weird.
