I saw them this summer...not saying I didn't enjoy the show, but they just aren't the same.
The first time I saw them was back in 07. I feel like shows after 07(post-GrooGrux) haven't been as great.
Is DMB past their prime?
When was their prime?
Is it just me or is Tim Reynolds guitar playing annoying?

Haven't seen him play with the full band but Live at Luther College and Live at Radio City are still two of my favorite albums. Also, the loss of Leroi Moore certainly doesn't help.

Luther College and Radio City are great, but with the band he sounds like a metal guitarist shredding. Not very DMB like

It may be just you. Not sure though. It's not me. Not that I'm aware of anyway.

I think they are better now then they have been since 2008. Part of that is Jeff finding his spot in the band replacing LeRoi Moore, and Tim has toned down his playing a little. I think their prime was 1998-2001, and when they dumped Steve Lillywhite, went with a different producer for Everyday and remade the Lillywhite sessions into Busted Stuff, everything changed.
As for Tim, he is fantastic in the acoustic settings, like the Luther College and Radio City releases, but he can be a bit much in full band settings. Personally, I liked it more when they had Butch Taylor playing piano.

If they got rid of Tim and brought back Butch Taylor, this discussion doesn't exist. TR technically amazing, but limited musicality within the band
