Actually this Aurora shooting showed why the troops hated the M-16

and liked the AK=47 It jammed up, as it always does. When is the last time you heard of an AK jamming?

I'm not certain but I would assume even on the OB this thread will be seen as tasteless.
change title to "Delete Akward AK 47 Thread" and lets get this thing going.

being serious. not a smartass. The M-16s I always used jammed up in the field quite a bit when they got some dirt in them. AK's and SKS's I've owned didn't. You could beat the hell out of them, trash them, etc. and they would still fire.
I consider it ironic in a weird way it jammed up as that is what the troops were always bitching about.

On less controversial grounds, I really wish someone had been there with a legal concealed carry firearm and had taken him down. The number of concealed carry permits would skyrocket.

yup. I'm getting tired of hearing he had a vest. Good shot in the vest could've knocked him down or staggered him. I've known cops shot while wearing vests and it was no day at the spa for them.

I love the AK47 but do you think it was the AR that was the problem or the cheap aftermarket drum he was using?

Does anyone think the coward scum would have stood there taking fire even in body-armor? He would have been running out the door.
Posted on 7/23/12 at 12:46 pm to prplhze2000
is that because an AK round has more energy than a .223?
Posted on 7/23/12 at 12:46 pm to prplhze2000
At the very least it would have knocked him down and given more people time to escape.

who knows. The M-16 jammed up a lot too. Throw in a crappy drum....

This was probably the actual reason why it jammed.

Idk. Talked to guys that went to Iraq. When they would start to get shot at by AKs at a distance, they said they didn't feel threatened at all. And then took out the enemy in one shot
