If it's LSU with the loss. The media will do all they can to make it happen this season if Alabama is sitting there with only 1 loss to LSU.
You can bet every cent you own LSU wouldn't have gotten the same treatment to get in the title game that Alabama got in 2011 if LSU had lost. It was sickening how "all in" (sorry Auburn) ESPN went trying to get Alabama in the title game.
Saban gets lazy after national titles so Alabama will lose at least two games this season to end any chance of this happening.

GOD help us if this happens!!

You do realize not a single team finished the season last year unbeaten?
The chance is about 2%.

No way in hell. Voters saw what a frickup the first time was. Even if it plays out the exact same the voter, I think , are going to vote the other non SEC team in.

It will never happen because
1. LSU would never be allowed a do over
2. IF Bama were 1 and we were # 2 (we would have lost to Bama during the season) then they would say Bama already beat us
3. They would say - see last year- it will just be a repeat
4. Bama would never allow it- they know the next time we hit the field with them the tables would be turned
Bring em on

Reverse what happened last year with LSU loosing a close game in November and they would be on the outside looking in. Saban campaigned all weekend to get Bama in the game. Les would have no chance of getting LSU in the game no matter what occured.

quote:I'm leaning that way, but I don't think it's 100%. There will be a lot of voter sentiment against another all-SEC rematch, but there will be a significant amount of sentiment the other way no matter who wins Nov. 3.
No way it happens, even if it's the best match up.
Voters will down vote the #2 team just so it won't happen.
If we win, there will be a lot of people thinking (and talking about) the fact that Bama already proved that they could lose that game (at home, even) and still be the "best" team in the country and thus deserve another shot.
And if Bama wins, I think there will be even more people saying, "hey, they beat Bama at home last year and Bama got the mulligan; LSU definitely deserves a second chance this time around."
Either of those could tip the scales if the rest of the country is significantly undeserving. But I think any other option as attractive as Oklahoma State was last year will probably get in this time. It would almost have to be another 2007 scenario where everyone else on the continent either has 2 losses or is off the radar AND has at least 1 loss.

First off, if LSU loses, LSU is out. Period. End of story. Would have been that way last year as well, and rightfully so.
Next, if LSU is 13-0 again, beating Bama, it will depend on what media darling is next in line. If USC is there, Bama will fight with them for that spot. Also depends on whether or not LSU can beat Bama by enough points for the game to actually count. Beating Bama by 3 points really means you lost. I'm thinking we have to beat them by 17 (at least three scores) for the game to count in the media's eyes.
We also learned last year that conference championships are meaningless, unless you are a media darling as well. Just ask the Big 12. That conference was told by the media last year that, unless your conference champ is Oklahoma or Texas, your conference champion WILL NOT be playing in the BCSNC over another media darling.
I could go on and on, but many of you here are clearly denying the new reality of ESPN owned college football.

Please do. I agree with everything you've said especially the part where if Okie St was replaced by OU last year there is no rematch. I think the same thing holds true if you'd replaced Alabama with Arkansas.

Bingo.
It is not hard to figure it out. Every long time college football fan knows what teams are entitled and which ones aren't. There is even a ranking among the media darlings as well, but that often doesn't come into play, like my example last year if OU or UT wins the big 12.
Just wait until the four team playoff starts. It will be hilarious watching ESPN cram 2-3 media darlings in the final four every year. It is going to basically be a Mulligan round robin for schools like Bama, USC, ND, etc. Remember, all the media darlings have to do now is finish in third place in their conference to qualify. Lose your biggest game at home to a divisional rival? No big deal. Winning conference championships is for those lesser schools to accomplish.

And this is what SHOULD have happened had LSU lost. I say this as a die hard LSU fan as well. LSU loses last November, Sugar Bowl bound. That's what they would have deserved, and there is nothing wrong with that.

I find this to be very interesting, considering they had the biggest hand in creating that scenario last year.

Eventually, Alabama and LSU will be playing twice per year, regardless.

That shite is over. Bama is the only team in NCAA history to get a mulligan, Check out Saban's nose!

What you young guys dont remember is this has happened already with Bama.
1979. Bama lost at home to USC early in the season....never lost again.
USC "TIED" UCLA in the last game of the year....never lost but finished 2nd BEHIND Bama even though USC beat them in Birmingham.
So see.......they have been given some many of their titles.....its BS.
