Anyone hear anything new on this guy? I know he didn't have a Committable offer but I haven't hear of him going anywhere else. Just curious to see what happens with him.
I don't think LSU should take a RB in this class and have all the marbles in for Fournette next year.

The last thing I have heard is that he will coming to the July camp. Obviously the coaches are going to evaluate him after his season ending knee injury of last year. I think it is very risky signing a grand total of 1 RB in 2 years. Of course as you know, they signed only Jeremy Hill in the 2012 class. I hope they can get Taylor in this class simply due to that. But for sure, IF the knee is still questionable at the LSU camp, it wouldn't be worth it then. IF I remember right, he hurt it fairly early in the season so it has been almost a year now.

I asked this same question a while back, and the answer was that he had to camp before his offer would be good, and that he most likely was being recruited as an ATH and not a RB.
I haven't heard much concerning whether or not he made it to camp, or if he cooled on us after getting egg on his face, and we've certainly filled a few spots since then. He looks like a great safety prospect to me, but we may be looking at bigger fish to finish with.

Thanks. Yeah I guess your right but we already have 6 legit RBs but never know who leaves for the NFL after this year and with injuries. You can never have too many RBs.

I think it is good to have spacing in classes. IF Jeremy Hill was to play this season like everyone expects him and they don't sign Taylor, then in 2013, LSU would have 0 FR running backs. I have no idea if Ware would go pro, Blue would go pro, or Ford would go pro but all 3 potentially could after the 2012 season. So, you have 3 RBs on the opening day roster for 2013 if you don't take Taylor. But my guess is that LSU has made it clear to Taylor that they can't afford for his knee to potentially be good...it has to be good for sure before NSD. If you remember, Taylor announced for LSU and made 1 verbal list I believe but the other services never posted his commitment.

Yeah, I agree and if you remember Ford was a question even after the 2011 season since he redshirted, he could. I think he made the right decision myself to stay. But if Blue were to have a breakout season, there could be a case made that all 3 could leave in the 2013 draft.... all with 1 more season of eligibility left.

if two of them decide to leave then I guarantee you the third would end up staying to be the premier back for his last season, so no way all three leave

It looks like the door is closing for him.
We are in the mix for a lot of big names, especially DBs and DL. I think the coaches like him but it is coming down to a pure numbers game right now. Because we just lost three young DBs (Vinson, Jenkins, Gibson) and two experienced upperclassmen (Claiborne, Brooks), coupled with the fact that Reid will most likely be in his last year, more emphasis has now been placed on recruiting the secondary.
So, IMO the numbers are playing just as large a role as his knee. Still, there is a chance for him...albeit a small one.

Normally, I would agree with you 100% but the way Hilliard was coming on, I don't think it is a lock to start your SR season at LSU as the RB if the other seniors to be left. Plus, what happens if Jeremy Hill blows things up at RB. There have been cases where your scenario was supposed to occur, and the player who stayed the last year didn't even start. Usually, it happens at the QB and the RB positions in fact. Probably the main factor will be what kind of seasons all 3 have. If they all look super, then I doubt any of them come back.

Blue says hes coming back...
LINK
ETA:
Blue has given serious consideration to his future and appears to have his ducks in a row. Don't expect him to jump ship early for the riches of the NFL. "I'm definitely coming back," he responded when quizzed if he might consider leaving following the upcoming season. "I want my degree (2.7 GPA in Sports administration) and will graduate in December 2013."

Great news and RECENT also....this past week! I think Blue is underrated and that makes me feel better about potential losses after the 2012 season. Thanks for the link!

I think we can get away with not signing a RB in this class because of our holes to fill at DL and DB.
Let's say the worst happens and Ford/Ware bolt, you'd still have SR Blue, JR Hilliard, JR Magee, JR Hill (i've heard rumors of Magee being redshirted this season which would help)
Next class would have to have 2-3 RB's

It's entirely possible that neither Taylor nor the FB committed ends up in the class. Both have been told they will be reevaluated after camp. I think if Taylor is healthy, we should take him. He's a talented kid. If we don't, fine, just hope he doesn't make a public display of unhappiness.

Sowe end up getting Taylor he would definitely redshirt his FR year and who else would we go after at RB besides Fournette?
Posted on 7/8/12 at 6:58 pm to ATH216
I really think that Magee should redshirt. I thought he shoulda got the RS last year but he defiantly needs to get it this yr.

When the topic of "who most likely would not stay committed", I picked Swanson simply because of changing position from DL to the backfield (FB). However, he did play RB last year and some video proves it. I think he will stay with LSU. I would take Taylor just like you IF his knee is fine. When you take only 1 RB in a packed year at other positions, you have to be pickier than usual of course. Taylor has been complete class so far. If you remember he "committed" and one of the services even had him listed for a day. But it was an offer based upon coming to LSU camp and showing he had recovered. He didn't make a stink then, so he seems class to me.
The final 7 by position (assuming 26 signed) could be 3 DL, 2 CB, 1 WR, 1 RB.

They seemed really high on swanson and fb is a need in this class but i could see it. Taylor will have to really impress imo to earn an offer. I just dont see all 3 leaving either, RB's have a small window in the nfl to earn big $$. The avg RB career in the nfl is 3-4 yrs. Its important for them to grab big$$ early on. If they arent projected high most advisors will tell them to come back to improve stock and get a degree. Im sure we lose one maybe two.. i doubt all three..
