He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame but not honored at Tiger Stadium. What's up with that?

A street in the slums was enough?

If you don't have a degree you can't get your jersey retired.

He has his degree. They need to retire his number.

On April 28, 2011, the LSU College of Education honored LSU and NFL legend Y.A. Tittle as a 2011 Distinguished Alumni. LSU quarterback from 1945 to 1948, Tittle was drafted in the first round by the All-America Football Conference and played for the Baltimore Colts. Determined to finish his degree, Tittle returned to LSU in the off-season and completed his bachelor's degree in health, safety and physical education in 1950. The College of Education recognizes Y.A. Tittle as an inspiration to student-athletes across the country to follow his example of dedication to education and excellence on and off the field.

Isn't it the LSU HoF that has the "no degree/no membership rule?" That wouldn't necessarily carry over to jersey retirement, would it?

Yea I was wrong.

To have a jersey retired at LSU, an athlete must have completed intercollegiate competition for LSU a minimum of five years prior to nomination. Athletes must have demonstrated truly unusual and outstanding accomplishments, exceeding and in addition to all criteria used for Hall of Fame selection. The athletic performance must be considered unique, such as winning of a Heisman Trophy or National Player of the Year award, and should be based on the total LSU career. Athletes may also be considered for making dramatic impact on the popularity of his or her sport or for significant participation in positive change in LSU Athletics. Nominees must have a unanimous vote of support from the Hall of Fame committee.

I think a better question is, why isn't our Ring of Honor as extensive?
I know it's only about as old as the East Upper, but we can have at least two more than Cannon and Cassanova, maybe...

My original question was about the Ring of Honor in the stadium not retiring his jersey. IMO we need to honor additional LSU greats. Tittle certainly qualifies. Let's get his name up there where it belongs.

Joe Alleva played QB at LeHigh and he just doesn't respect Tittle's career.
