Do we offer 5th year to Gordon to appease him?

The way I see it, Gordon wants to be in Phoenix bc they ponied up and offered him the max contract allowable by them, 4 yrs./58 mil.
My question is do we offer Gordon the 5th yr at say a lil less than the max, say 5yrs./70+ mil. to change his "heart" and not have him disgruntled and go all Baron Davis on us?
Thoughts?
Not comfortable with any sign and trade offered, would like for him to honor the matched contract and then after a year if he is still unhappy or whatnot, then trade him in a scenario that benefits us more than what Phoenix can offer. Hed have to play a year anyways under the new bargaining agreement, so I'd take a wait and see approach and he could play lights out and then if he wants to leave we could oblige him and get the most value after teams see him actually produce at a max level player should.

It is certainly possible, but I wouldn't. And that could have been part of the game behind his released statement.
Or we could just match and say "Show up. Tough titties"

NO. He seems to be the type of guy u dont want on ur team. Unless he publicy apoligizes to all the citizens of Louisiana for puting his heart in PHX I will not want to appease him. And I want to givve our 5y deal to the Unibrow.

We don't have to the only thing we need to do is match the offer. The Hornets will save $21 mil with this deal.

Not no, but hell no. You can only have one 5 year max on the books at a time and in 4 years we want to be able to give that to AD, not tell him "Sorry, Gordon already got our 5 year, maybe next contract." That might also be part of why Gordon would want to leave, if he's not the top dog he'll never get a 5 year deal.

No..trade him for the Lakers 1st round, Phoenix 1st round, a young player, and call it a day.
