I have a bass boat and a kayak. There are times and places for both. And they both get used frequently.
I remember when I bought my boat, I couldn’t tell you how many people asked if I was gonna sell my kayak now that I had a boat. I told them heck no, I love fishing out of the kayak and it’ll get me places my boat can’t go. In 2016 when Henderson was in drawdown and no boats could get to certain areas, I took the kayak and mopped up the bass. It wasn’t even fair! But I had it all to myself. It was the most fun I had fishing in a long time. One day I think I caught a dozen over 3 lbs, a couple 4’s, and the biggest bass I ever pulled out of Henderson at 5.44 lbs. All while just floating around with an ice chest full of white cans.
Now, I know I’d have to register it. But I’ve been thinking about putting a trolling motor on it. I really would love to upgrade to a Titan or something like that. But it’s just simply not in the budget right now. I’d love to have it cause some of the more secluded bayous I fish require some long paddles. If I can just use the trolling motor for the long runs and paddle the rest of the time, that would be plenty ok by me. I can probably do that for about $300. As opposed $3k+ for a fancy peddle yak.
