Well guys, after years of thinking about it, I've joined the yak ranks. We just booked a vacation in Mexico beach and, while researching the fishing in the area, I started thinking about how nice it would be to take a kayak. I had no plans to buy a kayak when I woke up, but a few hours later i was loading one in my truck.

It's a 12' Field and Stream Eagle Talon. I understand it's very much entry level, but it was on sale for $399 and I couldn't pass it up. It will get me on the water and that's all I want right now. The first thing I want to upgrade is the seat. Anyway, I'm hoping to go on my first yak fishing trip sometime this weekend.

It's a good entry level yak. You definitely don't want to go too crazy on your first one. Just in case you decide yak fishing isn't for you. My first one was a Pescador 12 from academy. I loved yak fishing so much, 9 months later I bought a Slayer 14.5 . I love that yak. It's been good to me for about 2 years. It's gonna be bittersweet when I sell it for a Titan.

Point is, I hope you find as much enjoyment out of it as I do.
