yea. they have a cut off the canal on the right. second cut to be exact. closed until march 15. just go into the cove and fish the banks or the reefs (as far as you can go, the better). also the camp is like a mile out along the south shoreline. can't miss it. big cut. lots of reds

just make sure you have a south wind. can get pretty choppy in there for a kayak when the wind is up.

if you go into the old settlement canal, listen for aggressive chasing. i heard some once and walked over the road and got into some schools in the shallow water. caught limit of reds in a few minutes.

Just a small update with my Ascend FS128T.

I've been out 4 times since I got it in August. Had the hatch leaking issue that has been seen with these yaks. I re-sealed them all and it hasn't been an issue since.

Pros: Big yak, with a lot of space. Easy to stand and fish. Tracks quite nice when the water is calm.

Cons: It's big, at almost 100lbs it's tough to get in and out of my truck, but I can manage. Leaking hatches. Needs side handles.

Holy shite that's a heavy sumbitch. How do you transport without dragging it on the ground?

Not worried about the bottom getting all busted up?

The two places I put in at I can easily back right up to where I can put in. One place has a kayak launch that boats aren't allowed. The other I place it right in the grass in the marsh.

If I find a place that I can't do that I will buy the wheels to put on the bottom. Just as an FYI, I'm 5'10" 165, it takes all of my muscle to get it in and out of my FX2.

It happens. Mines all scratched up on the bottom but there isn't much I can do. Dragging it down launches and across rocks will do that.

I just got mine (albeit a used demo from Masseys that looks like its been attacked with a dull knife) so I'm trying to baby it. I don't mind the sides getting knocked up but I want to preserve the bottom.

Trying to decide between the Ascend D10T Sit-On-Top, or the Ascend FS12T Sit-On-Top. I'm going to be fishing out of it and using it to get to duck holes. Also will be trying to load it in or on my jeep. Can someone help me pick?

The 12 looks like it has a raised dry storage that would lessen the amount of gear I could bring when I go duck hunting. The 10 looks like it has more room in front of your feet. Is this correct?

FS12T.

Also look at the Perception Pescador 120 at Academy for the same price. It is the '08/'09 WS Tarpon 120 mold re-branded under the Pescador name.

Confluence Watersports owns WS and Perception, so thats how they are keeping that great platform alive at a great price.

ETA: Not sure what your budget is, but a "hybrid" boat like the WS Commander and Native Ultimate are going to be the best for room to haul gear.

honestly, unless you are fishing the marsh in rough water, where surf can come over the side, you should consider a canoe. way more space to haul your gear. It would be difficult to carry a gun, bag of dekes, shell bag etc. that you would need to duck hunt.

Maybe consider a Native Ultimate or WS Commander, which are Canaks.

I've hunted out of my outback and ascend fs12t

Both can easily hold 2 dozen dekes and a gun

I prefer the ascend bc it gets real dirty and in some shallow shite in the marsh

FS12T for sure.

Look at the jet sleds, if you run out of room on your kayak, just tie the sled on the back to hold more gear.
