Vermilion Catholic's Trev Faulk will named the new head football coach at Northside High this morning in a press conference at the Lafayette Parish School Board Central Office.

Faulk, who starred at linebacker for Lafayette High and LSU, turned in one of the more impressive seasons as a first-year head coach last year with the Eagles.

I am curious is Charpentier is going to stay there and take over as head coach, or follow Faulk to "Upper Lafayette".

He's getting ready to talk about it on Kevin Foote's show on ESPN Radio in Lafayette.

Good luck to Trev. I think it was pretty good move on his part to keep moving up. I'm sure he didn't get into coaching to only coach high school ball his whole career. If his success continues, he'll make a jump to college as an assistant.

The school board has some program where they are moving teachers or not renewing their contracts(fired) for underachieving schools. Upper Lafayette High School was one of them. He got fired basically.

Dang, that is out of the blue. Northside has been a good program the last 10 years, Trev will have to compete against some of the best competition in La for sure.

Well, it was fun while it lasted...

I don't think anyone really thought he would be at VC for long, but that was really quick.

well he's from the upper lafayette area, so I guess it was a no brainer. I don't think VC would be able to sustain anyway. That area is good enough to put together a special season once every so often.

So Northside is a public school? I'm obviously from the LP area and not from Acadiana/Lafayette Parish area so I'm not familiar with the program or the school itself.

Either way, heard lots of great things bout this guy. Good news if he's getting a shot at a better position than where he was. Hate it for the kids he leaves behind, but if its a larger school he can have a greater impact.

I believe he is going to stay. I seem to remember him saying last year that he bought a house and I believe he wants to follow in the footsteps of his dad and be a head coach close to home at a catholic school. None of this is official of course. I just believe that is what he will do.

I am a VC alum and regularly attend games. It's just the feel I get with him there. I have cousins that are there and they love him and say he loves being there too. It was his offense that averaged 50 points throughout the entire season and had a first team all state QB, RB and WR. Not to mention all state MVP, RB Jacoby Davis. This is the same talent that didn't win very much the last couple of years. He will be good but VC tends to have breaks every couple of years in talent. I think this might be one of those years.
