Shinn said he's since told Bennett it was a mistake not to sell to the Oklahoma interests. “In retrospect, that would have been a very smart business decision,” Shinn said. “But at the time, it wasn't to be.”

Words fail me when I try to describe my contempt for Shinn, Bennett, OKC government officials, OKC media and about 50% of their fricking hick fans.

And no. I don't think N.O. would have done the same thing. N.O. actually has culture, entertainment and an interesting lifestyle. OKC is a piece of shite in the barren plains, populated largely by . . . well . . . bottom of the barrel Okies. frick 'em all.

He's probably right thankfully George wasn't a smart enough businessman.

Actually, Stern had his foot on Shinn and Bennett's necks. He was NOT going to allow the team to stay in OKC. The BOG would have nixed the sale.

Their girls and women are amazingly good looking though. You have to give them that. I think the ratio of hot girls aged 18-30 is higher in OKC than even Dallas if that's possible.

And would Shinn really have sold the Hornets for more to OKC than he got from Stern? I thought the NBA clearly overpaid dramatically for the Hornets since it was more or less a "forced" sale.

They sold it off for what they paid plus expenses, getting all the money loaned to Mr. Shinn in the process (over $100m). They did just fine and didn't deflate the value of other teams in the process. For the NBA's smallest DMA and considering it was essentially a foreclosure, they did fine.

It makes alot more sense if you dispense with the idea that this happened in the context of a free market and recognize that this is a publically visible transaction series internal to the economic cartel that is the NBA.
