Last year was supposed to be a mediocre year for LSU
I think most were concerned due to the SOS, but "mediocre"? I never thought that.

Obviously JJ was Les Miles' golden child for whatever the hell reason. All the way to the end, for a big 0 in the BCSNCG.

Didn't read all 5 pages (guessing a lot of rehash) but here's a succinct response:
- When JJ was suspended, there was JL (5th yr Sr.) and Mett (only in "the system" thru spring '11 and fall, 11 practice).
- Obvious answer at this juncture - JL.
- JL does well and our O functioned well. Recall that schedule was 3 key road games among first 4 games. No need for Mett.
- JJ returns.
- JJ has a different skill set; adds new dimension. No need for Mett.
- JL throws two ints vs Bama.
- JJ is hero vs Bama. No need for Mett.
- JJ assumes starter. No need for Mett.
- JJ whiffs for much of the last three games. Need for JL and Mett goes unrecognized.

The better question would be "Why didn't Miles play Lee in the BCS title game?" Let it go Luke...... Let it go......
Food for thought: Alabama has won 2 of last 3 BCS titles against sub-par QB's: Texas QB got hurt in 1st qtr and replacement was terrible for most of the game and JJ's performance was the worst ever by a QB in BCS history! Mett will make sure that Ala. does not make it 3-4 in 2012 season. Looking forward to rematch in Tiger Stadium! Geaux Tigers!!!!!

because Miles has always put his pets before winning. See 1/9 for an example.

Now figure if Mett played last year and won a NC then he was elegible for the draft. LSU WOULD HAVE ZERO QB'S THIS YEAR - ZERO!
Oh the horror! So we didn't win the NC last year to avoid having Mett declare early for the draft?

You underestimate Miles' stubbornness and loyalty to upperclassmen. I agree, w/ the poor QB play last yr, Miles should've given Mett a chance. However, given the fact the Tigers went undefeated in the regular season, I'm sure Miles thought, why rock the boat? Stubbornness is a trait of most successful coaches -- you have to take the good w/ the bad. This isn't meant to slam Les, just stating facts.

Because JJ was all universe

TigerJeff;
I think JL played exceptionally well all season w exception of ONE game. JJ was terrible in his last few starts and JL should have been given playing time in both SEC championship and BCS title game. Mett was never going to see the field unless JJ and JL both got hurt or both were ineffective at same time. The fact that JL's worst games in his career were against Ala. did not help. Ala. was fortunate once again.....

That was my biggest issue with Les' handling of the situation. He had different rules for each QB. Lee could struggle once and not even have it be an entire game while JJ could suck for years

I typed and erased several responces becasue I just don't fricking know. What I do know is that Mettenchewbacca thows a beautiful deep ball, he can throw it on a rope, he can hit receivers in stride and he is huge. Remember, LSU had a TERRIBLE passing offense last year. If number 8 can give us AVERAGE numbers we will be dominant.
In 2011 and 2010 we were not ranked in the top 100 in passing. We finished the 2010 season and 2011 season ranked around 85th in total offense.
Again average numbers will make LSU a good offense. The last time we had a potential NFL prospect at QB we ranked 25th in total offense and won a national championship.
