I know cool story....but thought I'd share.

My great aunt was the first Viki Vale, in the 1949 Batman and Robin serial.

She was in a number of "B" movies back then. Also married my Great Uncle who was a General, and was in charge of the Selective Service and helped to make the VA a cabinet position under Ronald Reagan.

Maybe I can get a free ticket to the Dark Knight

Yeesh...looks like 1949 Bruce Wayne didn't exactly have the Wayne fortune to work with...but I am glad to see he managed to get a belt from Studio 54 to wrap under his armpits...

According to the bio, Jane Adams was born Betty Jane Bierce on this day in 1921 in San Antonio, Texas. She moved to California with her parents, and, it said, following testing at age 4, she was revealed to have the second highest I.Q. in California. She apparently later went on to become an accomplished violinist, a student at the Pasadena Playhouse and ultimately a model in New York City before going under contract with Universal Studios, appearing as "Poni Adams" in a number of routine horse operas. At last her name was changed "Jane Adams" -- with the idea that it might lead to more dignified roles. Instead she was cast memorably as the beautiful hunchbacked nurse in the Universal monster-fest, House of Dracula (1944; with John Carradine and Lon Chaney, Jr.) and the blind piano teacher in The Brute Man (1946, with the aforementioned Rondo Hatton).

After a brief hiatus during the late 1940s, Adams returned to do a few more Westerns, and appeared on some episodes of Kit Carson, The Cisco Kid and The Adventures of Superman on TV. She retired from the business in 1953. The only clue to her later life was a single line from her studio bio that stated that she had “married Lt. Thomas K. Turnage, U.S. Army” in 1945

Looks like he remarried. It states his widow was BJ Smith or possibly the great aunt had passed. Pretty cool story IMHO.

OP's aunt birth name was Betty Jane? Don't know where the Smith would come in though.

Looks like she was married twice

from Wikpedia
Acting careerShe was born in San Antonio, Texas, and received a full scholarship to Juilliard, which she turned down to spend years studying at the Pasadena Playhouse. From there, she got her start on Lux Radio Theatre and then with the Harry Conover Modeling Agency, where she was given her nickname "Poni". (This was supposedly due to her love of horses, but in reality it was to provide her with a more memorable stage name.) She returned to using her real name in 1945.

She is best known for her role as Nina in 1945's House of Dracula, but she also has the distinction of acting in early adaptations of both major DC Comics franchises: Batman, where she played Vicki Vale in the second Batman serial, Batman and Robin, and also a character in the first Superman television series.

[edit] Personal lifeHer first husband was a United States Navy pilot who died during World War II. In 1945, she married Thomas K. Turnage, a decorated Major General with the Army who served in the Korean War and earned the Distinguished Service Medal and Bronze Star. He later served as the last administrator for the Veterans Administration before the VA became a cabinet department during Ronald Reagan's presidential term.

They had two children.
