Trust started to fund Saints - Brees difference:

Only in New Orleans would a fan start an irrevocable trust to keep Brees. He (the fan) is meeting with ESPN in NYC later this week, but of course the story really breaks on TD.com.
Some will argue Brees is getting plenty of $$, but his leaving would be a negative for the City of New Orleans.
I made a token donation, what is really needed is some OT Ballers to step up:

frick that shite. I'm trying to make ends meet and take care of my family in this economy. You have to be an idiot to donate to the Multimillionaire Drew Brees Greed/Ego Fund!
frick the starving children, cancer research, etc...donate to Drew Brees.

That's a bit of an overreaction.

Overreaction or not, frick this donation. The guy was offered over 18 mill!

I lifted this from his emai .. perhaps a little better perspective:

Can't please everyone. Nonetheless, I am convinced that Drew would never accept the money and just let it roll over to his charity as the irrevocable trust that we created provides for his Brees Dream Foundaton to get the funds if he rejects the money. What I hope to accomplish more than anything is to get the two sides in negotiations to move a little bit closer to resolution with a swelling of fan support for Drew. I could be "all wet" but it beats doing nothing and remaining the quiet voice at the bargaining table when it is us fans that have the most to lose if Drew leaves

People are so damn stupid. I can't be the only one that realizes that this just provides more motivation for Brees to hold out until he gets what he wants.

Stupidity or not the guy was the best player over the past 6 seasons at the most important position and was highly under paid..
He deserves a little more. The other top 2 qb's make 18 million on contracts that have already happened.. but even both those bastards missed a season.

So what if some rich SOB wants to give extra money to keep Brees.. He can do whatever he wants with his money. I made my choices in life and chose to live a middle class life with a middle class income and I dont let anyone tell me what to do with my money or judge me for it and neither should this man. Im in out me down for 20..it isnt much but although some people wont admit it there are 4 things in life I cherish
1.My Family
2.My Health
3.My country
4.My Saints
and Drew Brees is a big part of it.

Yeah...I'm gonna make a contribution for someone to make MORE millions of dollars. I already contribute to Brees' salary. I have season tickets.

You realize that the players' salaries are paid for by the TV contract, right? That's why the salary cap is directly tied to the value of the TV deals.

I'm all for guys getting what they can, but I very strongly agree with this. Not to get too heavy on a Saints board but there about a billion starving people in this world that I could donate any excessive income(which there isn't any) that I may choose to give to charity. I'm sure as hell not going to donate to bump up a guys salary over the 20 Million/year mark.

I think in this guy's right mind he knows Brees would never take the money as a salary and it would go to his charity or something of that matter. Brees may be in the middle of a contract debate and yes I have been angry at times at both sides of the discussions, but I know WHEN this thing gets done give me that first W with Brees throwing for 320 and 3 TD's and all will be forgotten!

And this is why everyone is starting to hate Saints fans

That's cool. I love seeing anything that pisses off anal retentive people.
I'm not donating, but the entertainment value of this little stunt should be good.
Wait until Jarvis DeBerry gets this information and a few of the nerds at the Gambit. They will spend weeks whining about it.

I wouldn't give shite to Brees. He already has a hefty bank account. Not to mention he was offered the highest contract in NFL history and turned it down last year.
Posted on 5/28/12 at 3:33 pm to GynoSandberg
Yeah, this is the reason.

Maybe you can explain that to Brees!!!!
