So I talked to Meauxjeaux2 about this and I want other opinions. (I will probably go with his)

24-28' powerboat,(example Baja, Donzi, Sunsation, Velocity ect) What would you rather have a single inboard or twin outboards with the same power and why?

Depends on what you're trying to do. If you can equal the HP to weight or it slightly favors the inboard go with one. Less maintaince/fuel/etc

Single I/O in that size range. Very few offshore performance boats available with outboards. Velocity made a few, don't think sunsation has ever built one with outboards unless it was way back. Same with Donzi. Single 496 Mag or HO is pretty much perfect unless you want to get into high $ stuff. Outboards are easier for maintenance though. One thing to keep in mind is that most people back into the dock around here. Outboards make that a huge pain in the arse.

Twin OBs. More expensive but more reliable, more shallow water capability, 2 motors in case one has trouble, etc.

I owned both. For a ski/poker run around boat, IB/OB would be the pick due to price. Speed per dollar, ib/ob engine would be a lot cheaper. Top speed would be twin outboard motors any day of the week, but twice the money. Fuel wise, the outboards would be a lot better. Maintence wise, if you run the boat every week, the IB engine would be cheaper to maintain over time.
So, what else you want to know?

For that type of boat probably the inboard. I personally prefer the outboards for less maintenance, breaking down, etc

I am looking to buy within the next month or so that is why I am asking. When googled I see opinions on both, a lot Douglas skaters have outboards but yes that a little out of my price range. Thanks for all the opinions.

Skaters are a whole different ball game, high end catamaran vs a v-bottom. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to help out. I've been eating/sleeping/dreaming high performance boats for 20+ years and currently have a twin engine Baja. Check out www.bayouboaters.com if you want some advice from local guys. Also, www.offshoreonly.com is the Tigerdroppings of offshore performance boats. I post under the same screen name on both of them.

Problem is I work in Africa for 28 days and some of the sites are blocked here like powerboatlistings.com they must have had some scammers and wont even let someone over here on the site. I will try those though and thanks.
