How does your league deal with cutting the middle (line drive back at the pitcher)?
If this is MSB material please move it.

What are you not allowed to hit it up the middle?

It's just not cool to tee off and hit it right back at a guy 45 feet away with virtually no defense when you can place it where you want it.

Usually depends on how many bases the batter gets. Could be a single, maybe a double.

Pelican park in Carencro has a lane painted and if you hit it there, it's an out

I have heard of people that when they do it just take an out. Tonight our opposing pitcher did it and we decided to let our pitcher do it. I have also heard of teams getting mad and calling "middles open" and the whole team does it in retaliation. I'm just curious how other leagues deal with it.

It's a bitch move and usually causes retaliation and a lot people acting like hard asses

First i've ever heard of this.

Sadly, we don't have a rule against it in intramurals at the rec. Luckly most don't hit it hard enough to actually hurt someone.

We do play stiff pitch as opposed to big loop so pitchers can get some decent movement.

The cow didn't die for nothing. Why not just use his glove? I seriously don't get this "lanes" you're out deal. Why not just let everyone hit off a tee? Maybe the guy that chooses to pitch needs to man up a lil
ETA; Not trying to sound like a dick ,but it is a sport and it's supposed to have a little bit of challenge involved

Pitchers have died playing softball. Pitching to grown men hitting slow pitched softballs is scary as frick. I like to play third base and I get a lot of hot shots but I have time to play the ball. A pitcher can get seriously fricked.

I played tourney ball for about 13 years from Feb/March to Sept every year. I never could hit up the middle, but if I could, then I would have.
I've never understood why this is a big issue. It's part of the field. If you're gonna pitch, stay on your toes and play the position. It always amazed me when a pitcher would let the ball go and then just stand there. BACK UP and break down in a fielder's position.
In our prime, we had a pitcher that did just this and he completely took away the middle. He was a prick, but he changed the game for us. He was one of the first guys I saw with a face mask and shin guards.
If I pitched, I'd be wearing the mask and guards too.
Of course, the above applies to tourney ball where competition is elevated. In city leagues, etc., the rules against it are probably a good idea.

Ya talking to a pitcher brah... It's part of the field. I feel the same way in softball as I did about it in baseball. It's your job to hit it, and it's my job to either keep you from hitting it or to stop it

Which is a little harder in slow pitch softball which is why they have the rule. If your a decent slow pitch softball player you could hit the ball back up the middle every at bat. This is not the same as baseball.
