Alleva won't renew his contract. Not surprising.
quote:
LSU will not renew the contract of women’s tennis coach Tony Minnis, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva announced Wednesday.
Alleva said a search will begin immediately for a new women’s tennis coach for LSU.
Minnis joined LSU in 1992, registering an overall won-loss record of 285-134 and a mark of 86-144 in Southeastern Conference play. The Lady Tigers made 15 NCAA tournament appearances during Minnis’ tenure.
During the course of his 21-year career at the head of the LSU program he became the longest-serving and winningest coach in the history of Lady Tiger tennis. He was named Southwest Regional Coach of the Year five times, Louisiana Coach of the Year three times and Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year in 1997.
The LSU tennis team finished 11-13 in 2012, the third consecutive losing season for the Lady Tigers.

Very good man and person, could use the excuse that facilities are no where near SEC standards, but at some point he needed to win more, best of luck to him, but we need to do better...now on to a few other coaches who also never win sec and never will...at least give us coaches who can every 5-7 years or so win sec in their sport...care to guess who else needs to go?

swimming? we are looking good right now in football, basketball, and baseball. the volleyball and gym coaches are considered to be pretty good I think? softball coach is in her first year... track guy seems to do well

swimming may need to be looked at, but a new coach was added a few years ago, again facility is awful, gym coach has lost to ala, uga and UF 80% of the time in 35 years, has not won sec in 30+ years and has finished in bottom half of sec standings 10 of last 12 years...some argue that since they finish in top 20 (of about 45 BCS teams in the sport) and make NCAA's every year (almost half of all D1 schools make ncaa's in gym) she should stay, I disagree, but respect others have different views, guess it depends on the ad's view...

i was just asking... so who else should go? I couldn't really give a frick about any of them outside of football, basketball, and baseball

When will we ever improve facilities there?
Posted on 5/16/12 at 3:46 pm to c on z
only SEC school without an indoor tennis facility...we should never be behind Miss. State in anything IMO
if it rains, no practice...when you compare it to the new facilities built at the top schools and A&M its pretty easy to see why no tennis player would want to come play here

saintsfan...and you complain about it every time...look, I gave both sides of the argument on her this time, and I do recognize there are two sides...I also have only ever started 1 thread on this...I do not believe we should lose 80% of the time to the big 3 in sec over 35 years, it is franky embarrasing to me...now if others are ok with this (and not all are), fine, but this is the tiger "rant". It is just rare to be able to have a decent thread on non fb, baseball and basketball sports and I do as a supporter of several "minor" sports have an opinion...

This is tragic. I would cut the tennis program and give the money to the football program.

You're just bitching for the sake of bitching.
Where are these people?

Prayers sent. He is a classy guy. Bummer that he got canned, but three-straight losing seasons will give you that
