05 Silverado Problems - continued

So I found out that my vent valve solenoid was bad (causing a large EVAP leak). I'm getting the "stealership" to fix that issue. I was also having problems with my gas gauge reading inaccuarately. He told me they could replace the fuel level sensor for ~600 and the entire "pump" for ~1100. Is this "pump" he is referring to the fuel sending unit? Or are these separate parts? I can replace the entire fuel sending unit for around 200 myself. I told him not to repair the fuel gauge issue BTW. The only think is the last time I replaced the sending unit myself, somehow it lead to a large evap leak.

are you in BR?
If so,call Terry at 225-667-4111 and tell him what you got.
frick that $600 noise.
He'll just loosen a few bolts on the bed, tilt that bitch up,change out the fuel pump/sending unit assembly for I can guarantee you half that.

ask him for the GM part numbers for the parts and go buy them yourself at a distributor; it'll be 1/3 of the price. Then take it to anyone but the dealership to make the actual repairs.

frick that noise. Its not hard to do. Had to change out my last one. Unbolt bed of truck. Unclip tail light harness. Lift bed. Remove fuel lines running to pump. Remove pump from tank. Then do the same thing backwards with new pump. Not hard at all.

It's not hard to change. I changed one in my dads old GMC once.

I have the same problem with my 05' chevy. Ive been driving it for ~30,000 miles as is. Im loosing only about 1mpg but plan on fixing it this summer when I get some time off. If you do get it fixed at the dealership, you may be able to get refunded because I believe there's a recall for the 05' fuel vent valve solenoids.
