I will be traveling a lot for work now, and I was wondering what y'all think is the best rewards cards out there are. I will mostly be using the card for food and leisure stuff while traveling.
TIA

Are you putting your flights and hotels on the card?
Are you interested in business specific points or general points?
Did you try the search function?

No flights or hotels will go on the card. I will use it for food, drinks, and leisure stuff.
I am interested in general points, I searched and didn't see anything.

In general, the cards for airline or hotel points seem to offer the most bang for your buck. American Express Hilton is a good one.
I also signed up for a Southwest Visa recently while I was at the airport and got something like 50,000 bonus points.
Lots of options out there.

If you want business specific points, AMEX is the best on virtually all of them.
If you want general points Capital One Venture is the best.
If you are spending a ton of money on gas, AMEX Blue cash is the best.
I would go with the Capital One Venture.
Here's a site that will help you determine whether to get the free one or to pay the annual fee:

Food and entertainment (bars) get citi forward. 5 pts on that plus 5 pts at amazon.com and tickets.

Thanks for the advice, looks like I have some research to do.

What's the conversion value of one point?

I have chase freedom. I like getting cash back and you get 5% in certain categories each quarter. Everything else is 1%. I may go open up a cap one card though to be able to get the extra $100 they offer.

1% if you redeem correctly. Gift cards in increments of $100 are the best way to redeem. There are some ripoffs in the rewards store like most of them. it's called thankyou rewards if you want to research if the rewards store is right for you. I personally like to use on Brooks Brothers and Dillard's. If you have student loans you can get a payment for full value of points.

I pair the citi card with the Penfed card and it's amazing how fast rewards build up since I am in a car alot for work.
Penfed platinum rewards
No fee 5% gas, 3% grocery, 1% all others
you can redeem for visa gift cards for max value in their rewards store

I don't think the Amazon thing works anymore.

IMO, get AMEX Platinum because of the airline club access and concierge service. The points are very flexible too.

How long did it take to get approved for that one?
Also, what score is needed to get one?

I don't remember exactly - maybe a week or two I got piece of mail. They aren't the best on correspondence. I know I had to sign up for a $15 club for the armed forces of some sort - you'll see it when you go through the process. That was before applying so if you get denied that cash is gone. You also have to open a checking account with a min of $5. My credit score was around 730 then. It was a 5% cash reward card for gas only and 1% everything else, then they changed it to 5% cash and .25% everything else. Then came out with a new points program for 5% gas, 3% grocery 1% everything else so I switched to that. The reward store, like I said, gives visa cash giftcards starting with full redeemable value for the points.

How long does it take to redeem cash or items in general? I've never redeemed but plan on racking up points to get something cool for free.

Wilfred, I am a PenFed member and CC holder as well. I am still on the cash back rewards program and I am getting emails to switch. I haven't done so, haven't done any comparison, but I figure if they're emailing me to switch, I must have a better deal with cash back.
What are your thoughts and why did you make the change?

wegotdatwood- cash reward is automatic monthly, this is my first month on points so I don't have any yet.
Will cover - I'm guessing they figure that people will spend their rewards points stupidly or not at all. The automatic credit guarantees they have to pay everyone on the program. But if I can get visa prepaid cards without taking a hit on % it doesn't make a difference to me. I also didn't have a grocery reward card before so I figured why not. If you use it just for gas I wouldn't change it.

Pick a hotel chain or airlines and stick with it. Marriott Premier rewards card was the best when I did my research. I also LOVE the Marriott properties.
