Seriously though, some people will tell you that all "real" elk rifles start with "3". Personally, I can't imagine the 7mm falling short.

They won't. The only plus is at longer ranges, not that the 7mm won't get there. You also have to realize to that the elk people live by the Weatherby code. If you don't shoot a Weatherby then you don't shoot a rifle.

The 7mag is pretty much The standard elk rifle. Flat shooting an bringing enough arse without being too rough on the shoulder.

I would prefer a .30-06 inside of 200 yards. I'll be the first one to admit that im not a fan of recoil.
