total state population doesn't mean anything fwiw....

Side note:
The State of Louisiana has fewer people than Metropolitan Atlanta.

I'm curious about your reasoning here when we're talking about PER CAPITA.

So if I stay in Louisiana I have the best shot of my kid being in the NFL making his daddy rich?

Cause a state's total population can be a very deceiving statistic. If you want to look at "per capita", look at a state's high school student population, or even males 16-21.....or something similar

I think he is referring to the fact that there are a shite load of retired old people in the state of Florida and that negatively impacts his state's statistics in this particular case...

And Greater Houston. And the DFW Metroplex. And probably South Florida as well.
But hey, it can claim something without having to preface it by saying "thank God for Mississippi"!

Exactly when you factor in the blue hairs Florida is very impressive

Exactly
For example: Tejas and Florida have pretty similar state populations (they have a couple million more, but they're both up there around 20-25 million). Tejas however, has something like 5x the number of high school students that Florida does......yet we put just as many kids into the NFL & D1 (if not more)

edit: here they come, a stampeding hoard of haters who don't catch my sarcasm and my lack of state pride.

The same can be said about the Rust Belt states in college football.
