I know Russ Johnson holds the LSU single season record for batting average at .410 back in 1994.

at LSU? no one. the SEC record is Dave Magadan at .525 for the season in 1983. Russ Johnson batted .410 in 1994. That's the LSU record, and Raph will shatter that. He's on pace for 194 at bats in the regular season. To break the record, he would need 80 hits on the season. He has 80 already. So, in theory, he could finish the regular season with > .410 BA without getting another hit. With that in mind, and discarding the postseason, it is highly improbable anyone in LSU history has been hitting .503 through 42 games. I'll go out on a limb and say no one has ever been close at this point.
