Pelicans was the name of N.O. defunct Minor league baseball team. Why use that again? It's part of New Orleans history. Why not leave it there.

History comes full circle. Hornets were a part of charlotte's history.... the minor league baseball team is beyond history... I kind of agree about brass and voodoo... its too recent of history to use.

It's not like the previous professional sports franchises researched all possible names and ended up using ones at the bottom of their list. The reason we are considering retreads is because they are the most appealing to the market.

Chad, I agree with you that the only name being thrown out there that could work as a retread is the Pelicans. I would rather something a little newer and leave that part of New Orleans history alone.

I don't think recycling old team tames just because they fit the market is a good idea. Benson is going to want to distance himself from old monikers and teams. He will want something that is his own
