re: Your all-time LSU BASKETBALL team

I've always felt that we have the sharpest curve in all-time players of any program. Our first 3 (Pete, Shaq and CJ) are (imo) hands down the best of any program, of all time. They are so good, that our top 5 is still arguably the best even though our 4 & 5 are probably significantly behind some of the all time great programs (Kentucky, Duke, UCLA). And after that, it plummets precipitously compared to top level programs with storied histories.
We'd have almost no depth, but our starting 5 would run with anybody.
Mine would be:
PG -- Pete
SG -- CJ
SF -- Macklin(Pettit, if we get to take them as compared to their contemporaries)
PF -- John Williams
C -- Shaq
You could run a number of other forwards in there, or even swap out for another guard, and it would be roughly the same team. When you have CJ draining it from anywhere on the court, Shaq owning the inside, and Pistol Pete just doing Pistol Pete, all you really need are a couple of credible threats that can make easy wide open jumpers (and hopefully play a little defense).

Pettit was so far ahead of Macklin it is a joke. Look at their respective pro careers.

I disagree. We would have a ton of depth. You are vastly underestimating some of our best players from 20+ years ago. I can think of several (Taz M, TT, Stromile, etc.) within the past 20 that would be unreal 1-1 or even being left open due to the double teams on CJ, PP, and Shaq. You can't even factor what CJ & PP would do 1-1 on a consistent basis. Remember what CJ did to Georgetown 5-1 at the end of that game. CJ, PP, & Shaq could make the final 4 with 3 guys from the rant!
