We have a white sewage pipe hanging down from the west upper deck, for all the world to see and now we get this horrible addition that doesn't match anything.
HORRIBLE on the outside.
Can you please fill us in on what YOU'D like to see then? I'm sure your ideas are much better so spill it.
Btw, it LSU decided to give away free gold bars and blow jobs every game I'm pretty sure a few of you low-lifes would find something to bitch about that too.

Does anyone have a recent picture of the West side with that PVC pipe? They really haven't even painted it or anything?

This looks 10x better than that crap they have proposed now.

It looks like the entrance to a baseball stadium to me. Busch Stadium to be exact.
Not a fan of the brick, exposed ramps up or the fact that you can still see most of the terrible south end zone facade. On the interior, it doesn't allow for the same number of suites and club level seats, due to the placement of the jumbo trons.
I don't think either design is terrible, but I think LSU's fits much better.

This is how it currently looks. The proposed LSU design is a grand renovation. This shite your boy worked up is high schoolish at best. In fact, most Texas high school stadiums have entrances similar to the one he came up with. His design would get eaten up in the landscape on that end of the stadium.

This is true. LSU doesn't want the SEZ to be viewed as an elaborate entrance. That is the plan for the west side of the stadium which should be completed before the fall of '13.

I'm not sure we're getting anywhere with this conversation with your contributions(?) providing such a huge distraction. I'll keep cursing, sexual references, and name calling out of my response as best I can.
It's clear you're cool with the design simply because it's better than what you could come up with. I'm not going to knock that. But what's also clear to me is that there's a gap between when you think works and what could really make the project a homerun. Certainly that's my opinion. And I've spoken very plainly that the stretching and warping of the original design makes it no longer pleasing to the eye.
I'm no architect; so, I can't put forth an actual design. (Maybe if LSU paid me a few thousand like they paid the architect to draw up the designs, I would be happy to put something together.) I can just say that I'm comfortable, as a donating alumnus who has taken an interest in campus history and architecture, raising concerns about the design's shortcomings.

I could only imagine if the web and this site were around when LSU first proposed the original south endzone. This place would have blown up.

What a bunch of shite. It's amazing to me that so many people think they could do everything proposed by LSU so much better. We went through the same shite when they built the baseball stadium. How about we just let things play out. This administration had proven themselves with construction projects.

When you find complaints I made on this board about Alex Box, Tiger Park, the basketball practice facility, the stadium windows, the West renovations, or even the Union, band hall, or Business Education Complex, then I guess your characterization of my comments will make sense. However, you won't find complaints like those from me because I didn't complain about exposed beams or missing berms or anything else I saw on this board.
So, I'll take your point that this might play out just fine. But the renderings and final products I've seen in the past have matched up nicely for all of the projects I've mentioned. I hope this will be the one instance where the renderings don't show what will actually be built.

I like the inside.
Not sure about the exterior. It looks odd.

Is there really room to fit that without moving Stadium Drive some way?

I think the west upper extended out about 100'
The south end wont be that much.

The renderings released by LSU seem to be preliminary and will probably evolve in the next few months when more engineering work is incorporated into the design. You can see examples of how designs of the baseball and softball stadiums evolved from concept to finished product below for an example of what I am talking about:
Baseball rendering released around August 2006
Baseball rendering released around December 2006 (notice they raised the suites/press box another level and the stairs were moved inwards)
Baseball construction started June 2007
Baseball stadium as built
Softball rendering early release
Softball rendering later release (notice the area below the roof at the back of the stadium)
Softball stadium as built (notice the roof is no longer a cantilever design but is more a suspension design)
