Coach Saban turned program around exactly 180 degrees, brought it to a high level, which has been maintained for slightly over a decade. He accepted a promotion to the NFL, which any ambitious man would take. Why Satan?

Skip picking Smoke is the best example. What a disaster. Who cares that his BBQ buddy was tearing it up at UL Monroe.

I still remember being at Skip's baseball camp in '01 and everyone lining up to get his autograph at the end of the session. Then they were all like "and don't forget to get Smoke Laval's autograph too!" who was chilling by himself in the corner with his pedo stache and we were all just like "lol no."

All he did in 2001 was hang out in the corner of the dugout with his shades on during games.

That was a really weird transition.

Then again that's all he did when he was the coach.

Didn't you know ? LSU was about to drop down to 1-AA until Saban arrived. Only 25,000 were coming to the games and the 2000 team had no talent.

Been a fan since 1970

From 1990 to 1999 the club had a 54-58-1 record for a 48% win rate.

No, but they had a 'Wyoming' quality about them.

Of course they did or Saban is not winning the conference in 2001. Dinardo going 4 - 7 then 2- 9 in final two seasons if Wyoming stuff.

At one point did being a LSU fan require the characteristics of BammerNation and believe things that aren't really true?

Skip DID NOT "hand-pick" Smoke Laval.

Smoke was Skip's 3rd pick. And then only after he agreed to let Skip keep the camp money.
