Heading to stay at the Grand Casino in Biloxi for the wife and I's wedding anniversary in a couple weeks.

I have never eaten at any upscale restaurants (except BR Prime in the Beau) and was looking for suggestions.

Steakhouse / Seafood restaurants close to the hotel (even within walking distance) would be the best.

Y'all should take a drive along the coast at some point. If you end up in BSL around dinner time the Sycamore House is an amazing place to have an upscale dining experience. And early dinner and nice sunset cruise on Hwy 90 back to Biloxi would be great.

That sounds like a good idea & restaurant, I'm just not sure of an early dinner or long drive as we will doing the spa & pool thing most of the day. I would rather not drive and perhaps take a taxi to a restaurant to a later dinner as we will need time to get ready and such.

ETA: Was looking at Half Shell Oyster House or Mary Mahoney's? How are these? Romantic at all?

Mary Mahoney's is good. Nice old place and would probably work well for what you are looking for.

Half Shell, no not romantic...Mary Mahoney's could be in a old guard sort of way. Cabbing it from BSL to Biloxi would be real tough, not sure they'd want to take you.

I say a drive because that's one of the best things to do in the area. Romantic is tough, and even thoug the Sycamore House is 30 miles away, it is really romantic and upscale. It's a modern restaurant as compared to Mary Mahoeny's. I'd think Vrazel's, even though I've never been there, is likely the closest place not in a casino. It's really not far from BSL though...Beautiful houses and such along the coast between the two...tons for sale too (OT baller required).

After looking at Mary Mahoney's website, it appears to be a good restaurant for an anniversary dinner if you're 75.

Vrazels...i think it's technically in Gulf Port.
Food is great and it's got a nice romantic atmosphere

I love Vrazel's and think it is way more "romantic" than Mary Mahoney's. Half Shell Oyster house is not romantic at all. You could also check out the Carnival de Brazil at the IP. Get one of those booths that has a curtain if you want to makeout or whatever while you wait for them to serve your food.

I agree that Vrazels is a great place and better than Mahoney's. I thought he wanted to stay in Biloxi is why I didn't suggest.

The Ceasar salad for 2 is the best Ceasar salad I have ever had. ever. anywhere.

My favorite dish is the Seafood a la Vrazel and my husband loves the Eggplant la rosa

I grew up in the area and am racking my brain. I know you should be able to find one off HWY 49 in Gulfport in their downtown area. Also, might be something to your liking in Ocean Springs as well.

Biloxi, I couldn't tell you where they hid the restaurants after Katrina. I've rarely been back since the storm, so I'm just out of touch.

I think we may do the Half Shell for Lunch and Ruth's in the Hard Rock for dinner. Still considering Vrazel's though for dinner.

Damn, between this and eating at BR Prime, you either like wasting money in casinos or are scared to venture outside the comfort zone of steaks and potatos.

My better half tends to be skeptical of restaurants that she is not familiar with.

I still may pull the trigger and go to Vrazel's.

Went to Mahoney's for my 21st birthday with about 15 of my family/friends. We had our own private room but almost got kicked out because we were so loud. The waiter knew he was in for a long night when one of my friends ordered a 4 horseman for his drink. From what I remember though, dinner was awesome.

Lunch - Half Shell

Had fried green tomatoes and calamari for app. Good spicy sauce.

I had shrimp plate for lunch and wife had a cajun shrimp pasta. Both were good, lunch portion sizes with lunch prices. Highly recommended. The oysters three-ways app looked incredible.

Dinner - Ruth's

Wedge Salads good as always.

I had the strip and it was the best steak I've ever had. Wife got the ribeye and it was good as well. Maybe a little too much marbling (even for a ribeye). Got the au-gratin potatoes as a side.

Best Ruth's experience in a while. Lately, it has been hit or miss.

I forgot to say that we stopped at Trapani's in BSL on the way back. It was not very good. I'm on my phone so I'll try to add a full review later.
