Could this movie actually be good?

I'm trying to avoid anything that will spoil it for me. All I've heard about it so far is really good though.

Chris Hemsworth kind of gave me a bad attitude about it because he was not good in Thor and that Snow White and the Huntsman movie looks shitty too, so I am pleasantly surprised by the initial judgments.

Sorry I just have those 2 movies on the same level in my mind. They weren't awful but nothing special at all. Not worth the money I spent to see them.

Good:
quote:

For all of its many intellectual pleasures, and smart commentary, Cabin in the Woods is a visceral roller coaster of a movie at heart. And like the best thrill rides, when it's over, you just want to get back on and go again.

A pulpy, deceivingly insightful send-up of horror movies that elicits just as many knowing chuckles as horrified gasps.

Bad:
quote:

Movies that mean to deconstruct movies seem to be made solely by and for cinema vampires, those ghost-faced geeks whose pallor is rarely challenged by exposure to the sun.

There is a scholarly, nerdy, completist sensibility at work here that is impressive until it becomes exhausting.

The fact that it tries to be smart like the last great horror flick - Scream - means it's probably better than the torture-porn we've been served up the last 10 years.

Just came back from it, there are spoilers in the trailer, just an FYI. It was decent, not 90% for sure.

I was really shocked when I saw that, I thought it would be terrible.

Oh I'm serious. If you'd like I can drop a bunch of spoilers to let you know how fricking awesome this movie is. It was scary, it was funny, it's Joss Whedon at his best.

Best known for his tv work namely Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse but also wrote the original Toy Story.
