Very good. Great at moving without the ball and the sweetest jump shot I've ever seen.

Used to shoot from deep corner (no 3's at the time if memory serves)

Dale Brown called him his "Money Man". Played Center at Redemptorist and then developed one of the sweetest jump shots to transition to the college game. 1st Round NBA draft pick but only lasted a few seasons with Denver and then Dallas.

Was a true HS legend in BR back in the day.
Anyone else of a certain age remember Darryl Flowers from McKinley High? He was fabulous as well.

He also invented the hop skip and a jump in the lane that made refs shake their head because they couldn't call it walking "according to the rules".
Six foot five and two twenty five
Drain em from the parking lot
If we playin outside.

The only LSU cagers who had better jump shots were Pete Maravich and Chris Jackson.

Don't laugh but I would put the blonde bomber Jordy Hultburg up there with the sweetest J's ever. Darrell Mitchell is up there also imho.

I have a good friend that's been teaching at Redemptorist for ages. I watched Howard Carter while he was in high school. Howard had a sister who excelled in volleyball. She got a scholly from South Alabama or some other school down in southern Alabama. I saw Howard and company lose to Peabody High for the state championship. The finals back then were always played in Alexandria and RHS was definitely robbed in that game. The team that Redemptorist fielded that year was outstanding.

Always thought he would have made an awesome linebacker. Huckaby wouldn't let him near the football field though.

Hi C's coach Rick Huckaby was offered a job by Dale Brown to "ensure" that Hi C would come to LSU. Dale Brown was way ahead of his time on how to bend the rules.

He would have had a hard time beating Claiborne's Wonderlic score too.

Many schools started that in the early 70's as basketball started to become popular.

I was at that game ... seem to recall RHS missing a couple of free throws that would have tied or won the game at the end. Broke a 60 or 70 game winning streak.
