I didn't see any ":Inb4luzianafootball:" this time so I figured the coast was clear.

I was going to let you have this one.

Theus is kind of intriguing.

I'm not against it. (I'm not totally against anyone at this point.) But I'd be a little disappointed we didn't get someone bigger.

Suntiger,

. Thanks bruh.

Yea this sh*t has been very underwhelming. I don't think our vacancy has even been talked about at all. Even when Johsnon stepped down I think we just got the bottom of the screen treatment then too. I hope we pick up some steam real soon and really get some names going around the media.

Talk about underwhelming. His coaching record is not impressive. See Wikipedia.

Unimpressive coaching record?

Took over the Kings, who had one of the worst rosters in the league, and improved 5 games his first and only full season....got off to a bad start in year 2 and was fired after 24 games...if you dig deep into his time with the Kings they were killed with injuries to top players and yet they still improved 5 games over the previous year.

NMSU (His only coaching gig in college as a head coach)

Year previous NMSU was 6-24 playing in the Sun Belt

16-14 his first year playing in the WAC (Nevada, Utah State, and Fresno all post season teams that year)

27-8 in second year, won WAC, lost by 7 in opening round of NCAA tourney to Texas (Durant, Augustine) and led that game with 6 min remaining

Had one year to fully recruit at NMSU and signed Herb Pope a top 20 recruit, Parade All American, etc

Absolutely the best fit for this job....he has the playing resume to have cred with the kids, coaching pedigree (asst under Pitino, very quick success at college level, and nearly 4 full seasons as an NBA coach both head and assistant)

The man got an NBA head coaching job after 2 total seasons as a college coach.....who in the history of basketball has done so?? After one season at NMSU he was a final candidate for Missouri, Michigan, and Arkansas jobs

Kings weren't only team to interview him, he interviewed for the Charlotte Bobcats job a month prior to taking the Kings job

Also brought in Troy Gillenwater who was a Rivals150 (#78 player overall/#21 PF overall). He didn't qualify or something, but enrolled the next year.

Why isn't Theus coaching now? Serious question. I don't know that much about his recent history.

I know he was a finalist for the DePaul and Miami jobs. Why hasn't he landed any of these jobs?

I don't know, but I'm not sure if he could do any worse than what Oliver Purnell is doing or what Jim Larranaga is doing.

Purnell inherited a dumpsterfire of a program and Larranaga led Miami to the NIT.

He was an assistant with the Twolves until this season, Rambis was fired so he wasn't retained.

Runner up for USC and Depaul.....name has been mentioned for many other jobs but my guess would be after having quick success in college, jumping to the NBA making 2M+ a year the man prob doesn't want to take a mid major job for 250K a year when his resume suggests he is a fit for a bigger job....who knows, maybe he had some insight that this would be Trent's last season likely and maybe LSU has been on his radar since last fall??

Haha thanks.....I just scratch my head trying to understand why people call out names like Donnie Tyndall when I know what Theus brings to the table
