What do you think about that statement Bubba?

Who the frick cares who TJ endorses...

Apparently they became friends over the years and he's just trying to help JJ out. It's a ridiculous statement.
I would assume Trent Johnson is the last person on Earth who will have input. I would say the endorsement does more harm, than good for JJ.

So if Johnny jones is the only one who could turn it around, why was lsu paying Trent a salary??

Clearly LSU should have hired Nutt too.

Personally, I hope that to be the case as I'm not a JJ guy at all.
I'm just getting in on this Bubba, so two questions:
1) In your opinion if J-Ham had stayed would Trent have still gone?
2) How much did Collis Temple's anti-T.J. agenda of the last 2-3 years have in making it easier fro Trent to jettison?

I for 1 think Johnny "The Bullet" Jones would be a great hire, and him bring along Randy Livingston. They both absolutely LOVE LSU. They know the AAU recruiting turf well in the deep south, and lived the Deaf Dome era as players.

Why would they have to pay so much to get a guy who was going to be fired after next season or maybe even this one? I will guarantee right now that Trent will have even tougher luck at TCU then he did at LSU. They are moving to the big 12. He will be right back to winning two or three conference games and they will be on him like a dog on a bone.
At TCU, as Johnson informed me yesterday, he will make about $2.3 million a year for the next six years.

I don't doubt his love for LSU and I know he'd crawl over broken glass to get the job.
And there's also the issue that while there's alot of folks LSU fans think we can get and and think would come here that are in reality unrealistic.
Jones would definitely be a coach who would want to come here.
But I still have alot of issues with Dale and how he left the program and Bullet is a part of that IMHO.
Plus he's what...50 years old? That was my main issue with Trent at the start.
I'd like to try young, fresh and energetic. A new energy. A new template. Not the safe landing that has the feel of a Gump trying to reincarnate the Bear era.

I kinda agree with most of this but I think Johnny Jones is just about a lock for this job. Not saying I do or don't want that but that's what I think

I'm not so sure. There are still enough folks left around who know some things of the Dale era and enough who Collis has rankled to where this IMHO is no slam dunk.
I for one hope it's not.

I'm just basing it off of rumors I've heard. Hopefully its just a smoke screen. If by Wednesday there is still a coaching search then its not JJ.
Posted on 4/8/12 at 3:28 pm to Elleshoe
If Johnny Jones is a lock than the program is in more turmoil than we could ever imagine and ALLEVA has no idea what he's doing. People are saying we need a Dinardo hire...sure he was a nice guy and great with PR...what we need is an X's and O's guy that can recruit that will not get pushed around by college athletes or their fan base!

hope Johnny Jones is that guy. Because either there is a huge smoke screen or its going to be him I think. Too much smoke to be a bad guess by everyone.

if it's johnny jones, i'm afraid that it's a huge letdown.

Someone on TOS is saying our top choice is Chris Collins. Don't know if he's interested, but I think he could be a solid hire. Some think he's kind of a coach in waiting at Duke, but Coach K's probably going to coach another 10+ years. I think our recruiting would improve if nothing else.

I'm impressed with this! TJ really knows how to get a new job!
Posted on 4/8/12 at 4:24 pm to TenTex
since alleva didnt hire JJ when the job was open 4 years ago why would he hire him now ? Jones is 4 years older and still stuck at north texas which is not exactly a hotbed of college hoops. With all the jobs that opened last year did JJ even get an interview at any of those schools ? there is a reason JJ is still at north texas. If we go this route, we will get good players we just wont have a good bench coach. Johnny can recruit just like Butch could but Johnny cant coach x's and o's. Dont get me wrong. I like Johnny a lot. Maybe he brings an x and o guy with him as top assistant. I could live with that. the head coach needs to get out and recruit and trent just did not do enough of it.
