Yeah he says it's as a favor to a friend, but if that friend worked in Kansas city or Cleveland don't you think parcells would have said no already?

Sure, but that only makes my point more relevant

Looks like this report is now dead:

quote:

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports the Vikings did approach Bill Parcells, but it "didn't happen recently" and the sides are no longer talking.

The St. Paul Pioneer-Press and NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora both confirm ESPN 1500 Twin Cities' account that Parcells will not be joining the Vikings. Owner Zygi Wilf has been a fan of the Big Tuna dating back to the dominant 1980s Giants squads, but the rebuilding Vikings have little appeal to a 71-year-old coach. The Saints are "still in the mix," reports LaCanfora. The original New York Post report screams of a leverage ploy by Parcells to squeeze more money out of New Orleans.

Not sure what your point was but My point is that he wants, or at least may want, the Saints job no bc of friendship.

Assuming we are only losing Smith and Vilma to suspensions(& waiting for the outcome of those punishments may be part of this parcells waiting game) Parcells gets a 1 year multimillion dollar deal with a largely intact 13 win team to try and put a stamp on his legacy.

If Payton was trying to get Parcells to take over a team as bad as the Browns or Redskins where his QB would be Rex Grossman or Colt McCoy that friendship wouldn't have mattered.
