I would have to say it's out of Laron Landry and Chad Jones but I'm going with Laron.

I'm talking about the laron that played at lsu not the NFL laron. He was a beast at lsu

If its out of those two its Laron by far. Not saying Chad wasn't talented but Laron was a four year starter who ended his career 3rd in ints and 7th in tackles.

Chad Jones is far far behind Casanova, Steltz, and Ryan Clark at this point.

Chad Jones constantly played out of position. He did not live up to the hype at LSU. There is a reason he was not a first round pick. Laron was the best safety since Ryan Clark. Erik Reid is already better than CJ. In position and a steady leader for us out there.

Liffort Hobley was very good in my day.

Eric Reid may eclipse them all. He is outstanding and made one of the greatest plays in our history (int vs Bama) only to see it buried under the 1/9 rubble.

He only led the greatest LSU defense of all time in tackles as true freshman.

Nonetheless he had almost no ball skills. He is a very good safety, but is overrated on this board.

I was thinking Jeffrey Dale moreso than Hobley. Dale was very much like Eric Reid, and I think Reid will be better than all of those listed (with the exception of Casanova).

For us old timers, Tommy Casanova was the most dynamic safety, and one of the best overall athletes ever to grace the field at Tiger Stadium.

I suppose he was overrated by every scout, gm, and coach in the NFL as well when everyone decided he was the top DB in the draft when he went..

Dude was and still is a freak athlete.. Did he get caught out of coverage a few times? sure.. everyone does every now and then. Dude was a monster though

He is definitely a freak athlete. But he was a liability in coverage. That isn't top safety material. Sure he can hit hard and he was good in run support. I just think cover and ball skills are more important.

I would think you would have to have some ball skills to be 3rd all time in interceptions wouldn't you?

He finished 3rd all time in jnt when he left. He is a strong safety. Not free safety
