Watch and learn. There's a lot of different schools of trout swimming around that lake. North side usually has pretty water but I've caught trout all over the lake. Nothing to brag about size wise. Just like any other lake.. Fish the reefs, points and where canals dump into the lake

Be careful running into the lake from the raccourci... If u don't hit it right at low tide you'll smoke a reef

Yeah, we found that part too. That's why I've always been so hesitant to run out there. I've always known how to get to the Lake, just not how to run though since Raccourci is so shallow. Going into Raccourci I went maybe 10ft to the right of where I should have gone and ended up in about 1.5' or less of water...was almost bad. Did the same thing going into Mechant...hung just a tad bit too far to the right and hit the shallows. Don't know why don't they just dredge out a channel given all the boat traffic through there.

Everyone fishes the reefs right there

They are a big fan of the chartreuse sparkle beetle out there (split tail red dot)

I hate going through racourcci. I miss going through little deuce. Trout are all over mechant this time of year. I have caught plenty of trout over 20" in the spring. Find bait along the shoreline and throw some top dog jr or she dogs. When conditions are right you will load the boat with 18" and up fish.

I haven't fished since thanksgiving and can't wait to go next week. I will try mechant and probably work my way out to caillou bay.
