So Brady had a better SEC record and a better ratio of NCAA appearances to years coached than Trent Johnson.

And Brady got fired.

Because he sucked.

Actually at this point in Brady's career (ie 4 years in) he only had 20 SEC wins (one shared SEC title) and one NCAA Tournament Appearance (Sweet 16)

TJ has 25 SEC wins (One outright SEC Title), One NCAA Appearance (2nd Round) and one NIT Appearance.

Really TJ took over a dream team, and brady took over with LSU on probation and no schollies. It's apples and oranges. He won the SEC on probation and had a lottery pick. 12 wins in three years in the league...not on probation.

Brady was also under harsh sanctions from Dale Brown shenanigans. And Trent Johnson inherited WAY more talent than Brady did. Most of those 25 wins came with Brady's players.

Brady didn't inherit the talent that Johnson was left with in his first year. Johnson's apparent weakness is in recruiting. That first season is no indication of recruiting ability, since he didn't recruit any of the players on that team. Brady inherited a team about like the one Johnson had in 2010 following the departure of practically all the contributors to that 2009 season. In three years of rebuilding from nothing, Brady, under severe scholarship reductions from the NCAA, built the 2000 SEC championship team that went to the Sweet 16. In the same amount of time, with no sanctions, Johnson built an 18-15, 8th place SEC team that got blown out by 20 in the first round of the NIT.
