But they do seem to have multiple different fields of work to get into

What branch are you looking to get into? I have some contacts that work in the area of valve sales and what not. Probably not much help to you though.

I did, but in at a location that built offshore cranes. Pretty good company, I wish I had purchased more stock when I was working there though.
