(1st) 2012 Louisiana D1 College Baseball Power Rankings

1. Tulane (10-2) - It looks like this ballclub has finally returned to post-season form. With a very impressive week of baseball, slamming an undefeated SELU 12-1 and series win v/s the crimson tide, this team should see a big bump in the polls. If we don't see them in any of the top 25 polls this week, another (4-1) week ending with a series win @ wichita state, they def will see top 20.
2. #LSU (10-2) - Since getting upset by Appalacian State last weekend, the tiger bats have returned to form. Going into this season, we knew that LSU's strength would be pitching, but both the bullpen and bats have a lot of work to do. Tuesday in New Orleans will be a huge early season test for both the Wave and Tigers. I see Rick Jones throwing everthing he's got to win this game. LSU should go at least (4-1) this week.
3. SELU (9-2) - Southeastern is back again this year with another solid club. It's great to see Jay Artigues take this team to another level the last few years, but it's now time to take another step forwad. Yet, last Tuesday's loss to Tulane was miserable. The lions have to win those types of games for their NCAA resume because the selection committee has yet to show love to the SLC. History shows us that 40+ wins means nothing if you can't win the SLC tourney. It will be between the lions and Texas State for the regular season championship. SELU should go (5-0) this week heading into the big midweek series with MS State (in Hammond this year).
4. (Tie) Southern (7-3) Southern has been up and down this season, with a bad loss to Nicholls and then a big sweep @ TX Southern. The Jags should take another SWAC regular season and tournament championship into the regionals.
4. (Tie) ULM (7-5) If you talk about hot and cold, the Warhawks have been the definition. With huge wins v/s Tulane and USM, ULM was hot out of the gate but have since been humbled with a series loss to Nicholls State. ULM has a big week ahead with (2) 2-game series v/s Memphis and @Tennessee before they head to New Orleans for a rematch with the Wave next week. ULM needs to get it together before conference play in a always tough Sun Belt.
Others to mention: ULL (6-5), LA Tech (8-5)

Southern isn't better than the Cajuns. Southeastern will have a strong regular season but fade at the end and miss out on a regional again. Tulane usually fades too. LSU will probably be the best team in the state but I doubt a team from Louisiana wins a regional this year.

i disagree, but then again, I always have higher hopes for LA schools. Tulane is really good and will show this on Tuesday night.

thought it was needless to write, but for you: Top 5 power rankings. Oh, and I count 5. At least count the teams ranked before you become critical.

6-6 on the season with wins at USM and a series win against ULM, yet they are not even on your list.

big series win v/s ulm, but I don't think they're the better team. We'll see what happens...

You're probably overrating ULM based on their hot star this year. They'll be better than they were last year but I doubt they contend for the Sun Belt title.

Not a fan of Tulame, but in the Sunday win vs Bama, all three Tulame pitchers used are Catholic High-BR grads.

I think because of this thread the OP started on the SEC Rant, he should not be allowed to post about college baseball ever again.
